Here are 5 good reasons to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villa-vie.com\/en\/2022\/09\/moving-to-mauritius\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">move to Mauritius<\/a> in 2021!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-villavie-blue-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Premium Travel Visa for Long Stays<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A new administrative feature for non-residents who wish to come to Mauritius to test and prepare their settlement: The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villa-vie.com\/en\/2022\/09\/live-and-work-in-mauritius-the-mauritian-occupation-permit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Premium Travel Visa<\/a> for Long Stays. Valid for a period of one year, renewable, it is mainly aimed at tourists, retired people or professionals wishing to come with their families and carry out their activities or work remotely from the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the guidelines of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edbmauritius.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Economic Development Board (EDB)<\/a>, applicants for the Premium visa must present:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proof of their long stay plans;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sufficient travel and health insurance for the initial period of stay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And meet the following prerequisites:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Not to enter the Mauritian labour market;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To have their main place of activity, source of income and profits outside Mauritius ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Present the required supporting documents in their application file, in order to prove the purpose of the stay, accommodation, etc. ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comply with other basic immigration requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An online platform for e-Visa application will soon be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-villavie-blue-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.villa-vie.com\/en\/2022\/09\/what-are-the-advantages-of-the-mauritian-tax-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tax advantages for foreigners<\/a><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Mauritius, the tax year begins on 1 July of each year and ends on 30 June of the following year. As for foreigners, it is sufficient to spend more than 183 days (subject to conditions) of the tax year on the island to be considered a tax resident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, Mauritius has signed a Double Taxation Treaty with 46 countries (including France), resulting in an interesting list of advantages for foreigners, among which are the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A 15% income tax. Only those who are resident in Mauritius for a minimum of 183 days per year (subject to conditions) and who are recognised as tax residents of Mauritius can enjoy these benefits;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rental income taxed at the standard tax rate (15%);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No inheritance tax in direct descending line ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Absence of any tax on property capital gains in the event of resale;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Absence of any property tax, housing tax, local tax, etc. ;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under French tax law, a property investment in Mauritius is exempt from the property wealth tax (IFI) which has replaced the wealth tax (ISF) since 1st January 2018.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-villavie-blue-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Administrative changes for foreigners wishing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villa-vie.com\/en\/2022\/09\/moving-to-mauritius\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">settle in Mauritius<\/a> :<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the framework of the new 2020-2021 budget:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The work permit and the residence permit now form a single permit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The spouse of a holder of a Residence Permit other than the Occupation Permit does not need to apply for a permit to invest or work in Mauritius;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Licensed professionals can invest in companies without any ownership restrictions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The holder of an Occupation Permit is now allowed to have his parents reside in Mauritius as dependants;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No permit is required for the spouse of a holder of a residence permit to invest or work in Mauritius;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Holders of occupation permits, who have held the permit for 3 consecutive years with a gross monthly turnover of Rs 150,000 will be eligible for a permanent residence permit for a period of 20 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-villavie-blue-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mauritius, an economically active country!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ideally situated between Africa and Asia, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villa-vie.com\/en\/discover-the-authenticity-of-mauritius\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mauritius <\/a>has managed to raise its economy to the forefront in the region.
